37 fewer work days in 2018

As a company, HKBN has long channeled a love for Hong Kong into a mission to make our city a better place to live – be it through telecommunications service or by example of conduct. Over the years, this has manifested a crusading push for LIFE-work Priority (rather than a more conventional pursuit of work-life balance), where health, family and life take precedence over work. Counter to the prevailing notion that employees should endure long hours on-the-job, HKBN’s progressive approach is proving that when Talents come to work feeling happy, they perform much better.

The result: numerous initiatives have persistently been introduced – ranging from paid-leave schemes which include 1-day Family Care leave, 2-for-1 Bonus Leave (Talents purchase 1 day off and receive an additional day off) and Volunteer Leave rewarding those who pitch in for the community, to other unique pluses like half day off during important festive eves, a shortened 9-to-5 work day, and once-a-month Half-day Off Friday – that allow our Talents to enjoy more quality time away with family and friends.

This year, for a typical company in Hong Kong, there will be about 246 actual work days. By comparison, after factoring all the various leave entitlements, our Talents are projected to work about 37 fewer days than their peer counterparts. The aim: we make Hong Kong better as more companies see the long-term value of treating employees with fairness and respect.
