After an 8-week journey of Purpose, our Summer Innovators have emerged fully transformed!

Dear Friends of HKBN

From Shy to Shine: Our 2021 Summer Innovators’ Purposeful Journey

At HKBN we believe that when Purpose and business meet, it has the power to make the world a better place. That’s why – with our sights set on the future – we focused emphatically on using Purpose to transform our 2021 Summer Innovators from shy young Talents into confident change leaders via their now-completed 8-week journey with us.

In the past, our Summer Innovator programmes have always balanced on-the-job challenges with opportunities to learn from top industry leaders within and beyond HKBN, to network and connect, and, importantly, to help young Talents shine beyond the impediments of shyness and indecision. This year, our Summer Innovators didn’t just overcome every challenge we threw at them, they also created a lasting impact with social good initiatives that included refurbishing a single mothers’ hostel for local NGO Mother’s Choice, and pitching their youth development proposals to leaders of purpose-driven companies.

With their shyness shed, their horizons expanded, and their eyes open to Purpose, we’re certain whatever bright careers our Summer Innovators pursue, they will make purposeful use of their HKBN experience to unleash positive change!

Recap video of the programme

See what our Summer Innovators are saying about their experience:

Growing up under a more traditional, spoon-fed environment of education means I’ve always done things the way I’m told. My experience as Summer Innovator at HKBN helped me shake off this passivity and start taking the initiative. I learnt to apply out-of-the-box ideas to make impactful change. I’m now no longer content to be average… and am determined to shine above the rest!

Shyness may be common amongst us Asians, but it limits our potential. One can only achieve growth through “discomfort” – which I experienced through networking events, volunteering programmes and business meetings. Each made me stronger, bolder, and more proactive. Now, I no longer fear hardships and challenges that lie ahead!
