A Summer Internship to Remember: From J.P. Morgan to Grassroots Sham Shui Po

At HKBN, we believe a truly extraordinary internship involves exposure to numerous perspective-changing experiences. And mindful that times are changing, we’ve challenged our 2017 interns not only to see the big picture business landscape, but also embrace their potential as societal difference-makers. So rather than just develop business leaders, we want to nurture leaders with social responsibility!

J.P. Morgan Visit
Determined to give our 14 summer interns a great career start, we recently visited J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong for a peek at how one of the world’s most powerful financial services provider thinks and operates. To make matters interesting, interns from J.P. Morgan and Microsoft also attended. Besides absorbing wisdom from its leadership brass, including J.P. Morgan Asia Pacific Chairman and CEO Nicolas Aguzin, the interns adventurously fused their learnings to problem-solve for two fledgling social enterprises.

Grassroots Sham Shui Po
From one extreme to the other, our interns landed in Sham Shui Po’s streets to put our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) mission into action. Seeing that countless families benefit from St. James’ Settlement People’s Food Bank, our interns hiked through various routes and checkpoints to trial test the ‘Let Eat Go’ Charitable City Orienteering Programme, a fun navigation activity designed to help participants connect, appreciate and reflect on the diversity which permeates the district.
