Dear Friends of HKBN
Going Fast & Generous in Taiwan for Charity

Back in late 2015, as part of our annual management experiential trip, 35 HKBNers completed a 145km charity cycle across the hills of Kenting, Taiwan. And thanks to the tremendous support of our friends and partners, the expedition garnered over HK$1.1 million in donations.

Inspired by our altruistic adventure, 4 HKBNers are planning a return to triumph in Taiwan. Between 19-22 May, riders Alex Chu, CY Chan, William Kwan and Gary McLaren will tackle the region’s highest summit, Wu Peak, on a 131km trek to ascend 3,275 metres above sea level. This time, the goal is to raise money for our independently operated HKBN Talent CSI Fund.
From programmes that help youths discover their way forward in life and others which empower the physically disabled, our Talent CSI Fund has spearheaded 24 difference-making projects, bringing impact to lives and communities. Knowing every dollar counts, we’re now seeking contributions internally from Talents and externally from our friends. To put your money to a great (tax-deductible) cause, click here and donate.

“Completing such a physical challenge has long been on my radar. Being able to tackle this with my fellow HKBNers, whilst we contribute to the broader community, makes this especially meaningful.”
Gary McLaren, CTO and Co-Owner
“Last year, I got into a terrible downhill cycling accident. Frankly, this had a profound psychological effect on me. Given there will be about 90km of downhills throughout the journey, I will use the goodwill from donations as motivation to overcome my fears.”
CY Chan, Head of Talent Engagement & Corporate Social Investment and Co-Owner
“After our cycling trip to Kenting, I returned last year and completed a ride across the entire perimeter of Taiwan. In life, I believe it’s vital to always keep striving. I hope our drive and determination can inspire others.”
Alex Chu, Senior Manager – Sales, Enterprise Solutions and Co-Owner
“To prepare for this challenge, the team has been practicing hard, setting higher and higher targets with each training session. Now we are ready and excited, as we have gone through all the barriers and fears. This is our HKBN spirit.”
William Kwan, Associate Director – Network Design & Construction and Co-Owner
