  Dear Friends of HKBN

Old-school Rewards in a Nomadic Working World

Gone are the days when 20 or more years of service at a company was common. In today’s evolving workplace, such are the realities that a tenure of over 5 years is now considered lengthy. At HKBN, we pride ourselves for giving our Talents many compelling reasons to stay with us – from how we focus tremendously on Talent engagement, LIFE-work priority and Co-Ownership to the way we ensure Talents can grow together with HKBN through a dynamic setting of entrepreneurship and innovation – rather than move on to another employer.

In a changing nomadic world, we’ve adapted the old-school approach of rewarding loyalty by not only honouring Talents with 15 and 20 years of service, but individuals who have contributed 5 and 10 years as well. At our recent Long Service Awards ceremony, a total of 327 Talents from Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen were honoured for 2,715 combined years of service. Recipients were each given a commemorative award along with a memento gold coin. In addition, Popo Wai, a service technician who first joined us in 2001, was saluted not just for his years of support but also as HKBN’s very first retiree.

Gold coins are also handed out as a token of our heartfelt appreciation. Gold coins are also handed out as a token of our heartfelt appreciation.

"After joining HKBN from the incumbent back in 2001, what won me over were the ambition, drive and teamwork that exists between our Talents. Over the years, I’ve seen this company develop into Hong Kong’s biggest fibre broadband provider. Going to work feels like returning home; I consider the people here my family. I love this job and I enjoy interacting with customers."

"In 5 years at HKBN, I’ve been fortunate enough to expand my knowledge by meeting and learning from many interesting people. As a person involved in helping Talents develop professionally, I can say that the amount of support and opportunities to grow and thrive provided by the company is truly amazing."

Wymen Wong
Assistant Officer – Talent Acquisition, joined in 2011

"After graduating, my wife and I decided to join HKBN’s Guangzhou operations in 2001. What I immediately noticed was how eager the company was for growth and change. HKBN gave us in Guangzhou a belief that if we did well at our jobs, there would be plenty of prospects to grow and develop with the company. After 15 years, my wife and I remain proud Co-Owners of HKBN."

Jacky Cheung
Unit Manager – Customer Retention & Retail and Co-Owner, joined in 2001

"HKBN’s emphasis on LIFE-work priority means beyond the workplace, I can have time and energy to develop my own interests and pursuits. My friends and family often tell me how envious they are that I work at HKBN. This is a company which really cares about engaging and investing in its Talents."

Frances Ng
Assistant Officer – Administration, joined in 2011
